اعتبار :

In the case of the verb “To Be” the Present Stem (“hast”) is usually dropped and only the endings (in bold letters) are used. Please note that these are conversational versions:

  • I am: Yo soy / Yo estoy
Man hast-am
من هستم
Hast = Present Stem
-am = Verb ending which refers to “I” – “Yo”

  • You are (Singular Informal): Tú eres / Túestás
To hast-i
تو هستی
Hast = Present Stem
-i = Verb ending which refers to “You (Singular Informal)” / “Tú”

  • He/sheis: Él/Ella es – Él/Ella está
There are TWO possibilities:

  1. Oon hast
اون هست
When “is” comes after a word which ends in a vowel

  1. Oon-e
اونه
All other cases

  • We are: Nosotros/Nosotras somos – Nosotros/Nosotras estamos
Maa hast-im
ما هستیم

  • You are (Plural OR Singular Formal): Vosotros/Vosotras sois – Usted es/ Ustedes son – Vosotros/Vosotras estáis – Usted está / Ustedes están
Shomaa hast-in
شما هستین

  • They are: Éllos/Ellas son – Éllos/Ellas están
Oon-haa hast-an
اونها هستن
